Hot-Cider Reception: Friday, December 1, 4-6PM
On Saturday, November 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., a reception at Wired Gallery opens “Willner and Trilling: Mr. and Myths,” an exhibition of recent works by woodworker Andrew Willner and painter JoEllen Trilling. The husband-and-wife artists are based in Rosendale, NY.

ANDREW WILLNER

Andrew has been a sculptor, furniture designer, boat builder, city planner, environmentalist, permaculturist, transition advocate, storyteller, public speaker, and blogger. He is a leader, organizer, and advocate for the New York/New Jersey Bioregion and was an early proponent of the Waterkeeper model of water and habitat protection as the founder of NY/NJ Baykeeper.

Andrew is The Executive Director of The Center for Post Carbon Logistics, and an instructor at the Wooden Boat School of the Hudson River Maritime Museum.

JO-ELLEN TRILLING

Trilling’s sculptures fashioned from cloth, wire, and other materials are found in the private collections of prominent individuals such as Elton John, Carrie Fisher, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Robin Williams, and Madonna, just to name a few.

Her painting career began in 2001, and her first exhibition devoted to her oils in New York City took place in 2008.

JoEllen’s statement on creating this art:

In this time fraught with fears

(they are visceral)

innocence

of earth and animals

turning frightful thoughts

into fables

turning the tables

gravity to levity

fragments combined

answer a story by asking a question

fierce creatures of myth

tamed.

hell into home

heaven renamed
